CONNECTION UBUNTU
BASIC REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR A COMPUTER LAB
-
Computer labs must serve 50% or more females
-
Reports must be provided every April, July and November, for two years to Connection Ubuntu.
-
We do a pre-inspection of applicants' facility and perform random facility visits
-
Must have a secure, lockable facility
-
Must provide previous two years' financial reports
-
Must attend our Community of Practice Monthly zoom meetings at least 9 times a year
-
Must agree to travel to Nairobi, Kenya, or Johannesburg, South Africa, to pick up the computers/boxes, at the organization's expense
-
Must agree that, once computers are picked up, the lab will be set up and ready for students within one month from pickup
-
Must provide information about previous projects the organization has completed in the past two years
-
Board of Directors or governing officers of the organization must validate the information provided on the application and sign it.
-
All donated computers remain the property of Connection Ubuntu until the 2-year requirements are met and the lab is released from the requirements by Connection Ubuntu. If a lab defaults on reports, they must agree to relinquish all computers and peripherals donated to them by Connection Ubuntu to our local liaison so that another lab may have an opportunity to teach technology.
These are our very basic requirements. The application is quite thorough and applicants must also include several documents verifying their organization's activity. Currently, Connection Ubuntu has fulfilled our quota of applications for 2025 and has a waiting list.
